I was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico and was raised in Albuquerque where I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a business degree.  After a few years in the business world I realized that my true passion is working with children, so I went back to school and got my elementary teaching degree.  In 1995 I moved to Boise and found a job in Caldwell.  I was the director of an alternative night school program working with at-risk youth for 8 years.  I then transferred to the middle school setting and found myself back in college to get my master’s degree in Exceptional Child (special education).  After 7 years I made the jump to elementary school and spent 4 more years in Caldwell, splitting my time between two elementary schools, the Freshman Academy and Canyon Springs High School.  During this time I took classes at night and earned my Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, a subject that has always interested me.  In 2012, I decided I was ready for a big change and had a desire to work closer to home.  I was fortunate enough to be hired by the Boise School District. I have been enjoying Horizon Elementary School ever since.

I am the resource teacher for grades 4, 5, and 6.  I have high expectations for my students and believe they should be held accountable for their actions and their education.  I strive to make them self-advocates and to teach them to believe in themselves and to work hard for what they want.  I am amazed by the determination and hard work I see in my students daily and can’t imagine doing anything else with my life. I thank their parents for giving me the opportunity to work with these remarkable children!
